Finding Rest

I wanted to write this to maybe encourage anyone who may be having “one of those days”. It is not my desire to use my little corner of the internet to complain. So with that, I hope this will maybe inspire you if you are having a difficult day.

Do you ever have one of those days where it seems like EVERYTHING goes wrong from the moment you wake up? Today was one of those days for me.

Cozy coffee

I am an introvert. I do well with having time alone to “recharge” myself. Interacting with others can be extremely exhausting for me. So, taking care of my son all day is not only physically tiring for me, it is also mentally exhausting. All I wanted to do today was to go for a walk outside, alone, and shut everything out, even if it was just for five minutes. (Please note, even though it can be extremely exhausting at times, there is NOTHING I would ever change! I LOVE staying home to raise my boy )

I was able to escape outside for a few minutes after my husband got home and I just stood right outside my door and took a few deep breaths and enjoyed the quiet. It was nice, but what REALLY seems to help when I am stressed and tired is focusing my mind on a bible verse. (Unfortunately, this is not always my “go-to". I’m working on thinking/meditating on bible verses instead of complaining to anyone who will listen.)

As a tired, busy, worn out mom, one of the verses that keeps coming to mind is Psalm 62:5 “Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him”.

I am always complaining about being tired and needing rest (who isn’t with a baby in the house). This verse is comforting to know that I can find rest in God. When I am physically and mentally exhausted, I can find rest in God and on His promises. One of those promises can be found in Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Who else is weary and burdened from all of life’s crazy demands? Place it all in God’s hands and He will give you rest.

With love, Sheila

  1. AHHHH! Yes. I'm working to think on Scripture, as well. I've been too long without it & it has shown up quite clearly in my life. Thankfully, there is never a time that is too late for God's forgiveness, as well as His strength to have victory over it!

PS: I got pretty happy when I saw you posted today! I was like "YAY! It's Tuesday" :) :)

  2. Aww, thanks, Sierra! That made my day :)

I've found it helps when I put it on the white board we have on our fridge. Then it's kind of "in your face" since we are always getting into the fridge ;)

  4. It is so helpful to remind me of God's promises! With everything going on it can be easy to forget/no think about it. But with a verse in the back of my mind, it helps keep my focus on Him ๐Ÿ˜Š
