Living Room Inspiration

We have been talking about changing up the style of our living room for a while now. When we got married, our entire house theme was the colors black, gray, and red. I loved it, but after now 5 1/2 years later....I'm ready for an update ;)

So, I did what any girl would do these days and began checking out Pinterest for something that I liked.
I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to do, so I started a board just for living room inspiration. Soon, I quickly realized that I really like the look (and the benefits after reading about it) of having plants in the house. (The ones I tagged here are fake, but still gorgeous!). I also soon realized that I LOVE the farmhouse style.

We actually have a HUGE difference in the decor styles that we like so that always makes everything super difficult, but also somewhat fun to try to incorporate both styles without making it clash...too much anyway ;)

Anyway, on to our living room inspiration!

I originally went with the idea of gray and navy blue. I saw that color combination maybe three years ago and I've loved it ever since. However, I wanted to keep things light and airy, so I included very little dark navy and more lighter colors. Ideally, I would also have an accent color (I'm thinking light blue) that shows up very minimally, but I didn't want to get too carried away with what all I added to this ;)

We are not planning to get all of this all at once (got bills to pay, you know ;) ) We usually like to slowly add things as we can. We have been selling some of our old artwork and decor to help cover the costs as well. I have also been looking into a lot of DIY things too. I love creating things and I love that it helps to cut down on the price.

Let me know what you think about this style? What is your favorite decor style?

Boxwood wreath : I LOVE this! I would love to have something like this all year round in my living room. I am very sad about the price, but I have been searching for a good DIY so if you have one, please share!
Throw Blanket: We have a ton, but I always feel like I'm searching for a blanket, haha.
Stackable Metal Storage Bin: Have you seen these? I love the round one for stuff in the living room, but I also want to get a few of the square ones for storing potatoes and onions and whatnot in the pantry. I LOVE that they stack too!
Mirror: We actually already have a mirror that I am thinking I might paint.
Fiddle-Leaf Fig Tree: I love the look of fiddle-leaf fig trees, but I don't think I could keep one alive (I've heard they can be difficult) We actually bought a money tree a few months ago and I love it!
Gray Couch: I love this couch!
Navy PillowStriped Pillow, It is Well Pillow: I actually hope to sew my own pillow covers, but I might have to get this "It is Well" pillow! It is gorgeous!
Ottoman: We actually just happened to find one similar to this a few weeks ago at Ross for a way better price! But we love that we can flip over the top and still have an "coffee table".
Rug: I love the pattern of this rug, plus it looks so comfy!

Well, that's it! If we ever do finish our living room, I'll have to do a post to show you all! Have a great rest of your week!

  42. I suck at decorating...so I'm saving this for the future when I can actually sit down and decide what to do. :-) I love the navy and gray combo as well. Our living room right now is blue, and I love it, but I don't know how to decorate with accents and all the little nicknacks. Pinning!
