Summer Must Haves for Toddlers

Anyone else so ready for summer already!? We have actually already had a few pretty warm days and have been enjoying marking things off of our spring bucket list. My parents got our little guy a sand and water table for Easter and he loves it! It’s great because if it’s a colder day I can just not fill up the water part and he can play in the sand and if it’s hotter that day, we just fill up the water side and splash away! It is a perfect toy to have in a tiny back patio area.

Since I’ve got summer on my mind, I wanted to share a few things that I believe to be toddler summer must haves!

* Some items were gifted in exchange for an honest review. As always, all opinions are 100% my own and I only share things that I truly love.

Comfortable Summer Outfit

The first thing on the list is comfortable clothing! We absolutely love this romper from Finn and Emma! I fell in love with the colors and the pattern online, but when it arrived, the material was so soft (even after being washed!) Finn and Emma’s clothing is made with organic cotton and colored with non-toxic eco friendly dyes. One thing that I really loved about their clothing is that the fit is a “generous” fit. It accommodates my son’s cloth diapers very well (we usually have to size up to fit the cloth diapers, so anything that is made with cloth in mind is a plus in my book!).
This picture seriously cracks me up! I have no idea why he suddenly decided to cross his arms like that, haha.

Milestone Cards

Summertime is full of adventures and learning new things. Milestone Baby has these adorable milestone cards for toddlers (The Original Toddler Cards) that can help you document and remember those special victories. They also have adorable cards to document your pregnancy and your baby’s first year! I love how easy it is to just grab the card you want and incorporate it into the photo.

This card says "I can help with cleaning" haha he grabbed then and did not want to let go.

Hat

Lately, my son has been obsessed with hats. If we mention that we are going outside, he starts looking around for his hat. I searched everywhere for a cute straw fedora for him to wear this summer. He has a hat for the pool and another baseball cap for playing outside, but I wanted a hat that is a little nicer as well. It also was perfect for his spring/Easter photos! See!

Sunglasses

How adorable is a toddler in sunglasses? I love that right now our son copies everything we do. He loves to grab his sunglasses if we are going out for a walk or to run some errands. And I love that he is protecting his eyes (even if the sunglasses only stay on for 5 minutes at a time ;) )

Cute Sandals

He has his tennis shoes and some good play sandals, but I am always on the lookout for a cute pair of sandals for church. I keep coming back to these adorable sandals. I think we have bought them every summer now. They match everything and we have never had any issues with them seeming uncomfortable for him.

Sunscreen

I added this to last year’s summer must have list and thought about not adding it again, but sun protection really is super important to me (another post about that is coming soon). We really love California Baby  sunscreen because it is a mineral based sunscreen! Just be careful because a little bit of this goes a long way! (talking from experience…haha)

Water

Especially in the summer it is so important to keep hydrated. A fun water bottle or cup is such a great way to encourage kids to drink water. I noticed that my son loved stealing everyone else’s water bottles and didn’t seem too interested in his own cup. So I quickly went out and bought him a similar water bottle and he loves it! Find something that is fun for them and hopefully they will drink more water! If all else fails, maybe try fruit infused water!

Now I want to know what about you? What are your summer essentials for a toddler? Let me know in the comments.
